Dear Friends,

Greetings from our somewhat charred, but stalwart White Rock estate.  As you may have heard, wine country awoke late Sunday night to fast moving wildfires which raged throughout Monday and unfortunately continue as we speak today. We are grateful to report that all of us at White Rock, our family, many chickens, sheep and vineyard dogs, evacuated safely.

Today, as we begin to assess the full impact to our home and historic estate, we reflect on all that we have been blessed with and all that we have to build our future on: 40 year old vines that our sons cultivated from their initial planting to their harvest just week’s ago, an underground winery and cave system that has produced and provided sanctuary to vintages both past and present, our offsite storage of bottled wine that remains unaffected, and the many relationships we have developed and cherished over the years.

With all that has occurred these past days, we find ourselves overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received from our many friends, partners, neighbors and a community of wine lovers. As we don gloves, masks and brooms to begin the cleanup of our home and community we pause to reflect upon the beauty and at times fragility of wine country and wish to thank you for your support.

We greatly appreciate your generous offerings of assistance and continued thoughts as our estate and community rebuilds. While we are no longer picking, neither the estate nor the vintage is lost and we continue to make wine every day and encourage you to join us in raising a glass to another forty years at White Rock Vineyards.

With heartfelt thanks,
Henri, Claire, Christopher & Michael Vandendriessche
